Alliance education spokesperson Richard Wallis says New Zealand’s free education system is now nothing more than a long lost myth.
He says some state schools are charging fees of more than $700 a year and the Government now only provides 88.9% of schools total revenue.

The Alliance Party says that a new Government report shows New Zealand’s commitment to combating climate change is mainly hot air and radical action is required.

The new Alliance Party Spokesperson for Education, Richard Wallis, says that today is a great day to acknowledge the work of teachers.
“The International Day of Volunteers is a great day to remember that all teachers engage in some form of volunteer work in their schools, from coaching a sports team to organising the school ball.”

The Alliance Party says the attack on striking health workers by the Prime Minister should smash any remaining illusions that she led a “worker friendly” Government.
Alliance President Victor Billot says the Prime Minister and Minister of Health Pete Hodgson have now both tried to publicly pin the blame for health sector strikes on one negotiator, ignoring the fact that the strike is the action of a collective of workers.

I read today a profile of Bill English in the Otago Daily Times.
There was a lot of talk about his “moderate” politics.
Combined with the “liberal” image of new National Party leader John Key that is being uncritically promoted by the media, one thing is for certain.
