Name: Kelly Buchanan

Candidate Profile:
Kelly was born in Wellington in 1975, and has lived in the region almost continuously ever since.

She has a BSc in Computer Science from Victoria University, and works as a software developer. She is a devotee of science fiction, and in her spare time she runs a small publishing company.

Currently, she lives in Johnsonville with her partner and cat (who are two separate entities!)

Candidate Statement:
“I’m standing for the Alliance because the we put the interests of the people before corporate profits. New Zealand needs a fair tax system to properly fund education and healthcare, and eliminate
poverty. International responsibilities mustn’t be ignored either – we need to spend more on foreign aid, and speak out strongly against wrongdoing even by our “friends”. I have a particular interest in
democratic reform, and I’m gravely concerned by the government’s pathetically token response to the looming threats of climate change and peak oil.”
