Name: Quentin Findlay

Candidate Profile:
Quentin was born in 1967 in Christchurch. He attended school in Ashburton and Timaru and worked for several years before attending University in the late 1980s. He is a graduate of Otago University and has a BA and MA in Political Studies. He is currently studying part time at Lincoln University for a PhD in Social Science.

Quentin has been active in politics since the early 1980s. He was a founding member of the NewLabour Party in 1989 and of the Alliance in 1992. He has stood for parliament for these parties previously.

Quentin is a convinced socialist and believes that the principle role of Government is to empower people.

Candidate Statement:
‘I believe that politics is about delivering the greatest good to the greatest number. People have been economically and socially disempowered since the 1980s. I am a firm believer in having an economy in which all people participate and benefit, not just those at the ‘top of the greasy pole’.”
